Fred Cushner, MD

Dr. Fred Cushner is a complete knee surgeon specializing in all aspects of knee surgery. His practice offers both operative and non-operative treatment of knee injuries from the sports-related injury to joint replacement. Dr. Cushner has a special interest in cartilage injures of the knee, as well as partial knee replacements, minimally invasive knee surgery, and revision surgery. Dr. Cushner has written numerous articles and book chapters on bloodless knee surgery and incorporates this research into the care of his patients.

Having extensive experience taking care of both recreational and pro athletes, Dr. Cushner has served as a team physician for the NBA and professional football teams such as the AFL New York CityHawks and the XFL NY/NJ Hitmen.

Dr. Cushner is active in academic orthopedics, having written three orthopedic textbooks, numerous book chapters, as well as over 60 scientific articles. He is a familiar face on the academic lecture circuit, participating both in national and international educational events. Dr. Cushner is a member of numerous educational societies including The Knee Society and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgery (AAHKS).

His practice philosophy focuses on customized care - matching each patient's diagnosis to their needs and surgical expectations.
