Dr. Adam Rothenberg explains the process and value of TraumaCad® digital templating in a RI.HIP case using the CORI Surgical System.
So trauma cat is the first part of the process for us and if you're not familiar with it or haven't used it as your software. Um I think it's a really great product that has a you know every template under the sun. And yeah you can see the king mark calibration tool markers here with a pretty good technique in this example. So that's definitely something in the workflow. We have included a video here to show you through our navigation process and you might be worried about the time commitment but It takes about two minutes to do it once you're familiar with the system. Um The digital template ng workflow includes getting the images from the packs. You've got to set up a little might be a little bit of work to get your trauma cat integrated with your packs with your I. T. But then you take um you get the image calibrated, um choose your templates etcetera and then save the report and one of the outputs of the trauma cad. Um There'll be a way to print essentially have the templates on the screen which you might be familiar with but it also gives a report on patient information, surgery information, measurements like preoperative like length etcetera and what you've chosen. You can use this share it with your reps, um you know printed out however you want to do it so that you are organized and have your templates. I just pull it up on my computer screen in the operating room. So this is a video which will show the process of a template. Um So here what we what we're doing is template in the right total hip replacement. I've chosen polar for this case and R. three. And so um when you pick a template, it will also kick into a leg length discrepancy tool. So it's giving you points along the issue curiosities kind of automatically. I like to double check it with the teardrops as well. And then fine tune there's a little bit of error in the automatic generation. So I like to fine tune the lesser truck positions. And also if you have an implant in from the other side, sometimes that throws the algorithm off a little bit. But here I'm measuring the neck links that was 17.8. I'm getting my cup version and inclinations, my inclination set to um roughly 40. And then I have a number of offset and leg length. Now I'm doing the template ng for the ri hip software. So here's picking the points. There's gonna be a total of 12 points which are reproducible. I think the biggest thing is just figuring out where the S. I. S. Is for the most part and making sure the technique of getting the rotation right with the X ray text is important. And then there are measuring the distance between the A. S. I. S. Is. So I have a ability to calibrate in the operating room and double check things now, saving the case to my pack. So you can save it to USB if you want or both. And then that's it. That's the whole process. So the whole thing took me about two minutes for me I think probably I don't use Quinn tree which is an option but my packs my clinic space as a hospital employee. My packs is integrated with my hospital which is also my surgical packs. So I get an X ray in the clinic with the king mark. I then template my desk or at home depending on if I remote in with trauma cat on our hospital network. I saved that image to back two packs and then I can pull that image up at any place within the hospital network. So in the operating room um Generally what I'll do is the rep plugs the um kickstand or cory um For you in this case for you guys, excuse me into the our wall to an internet unit and then can view and search our system the packs for our patients and then that pulls in the image and the template based on what I've done if for some reason I haven't I missed a template or um you know I want to do a day of or it's a hip fracture. And I'm doing a total hip for patients who came in through the er then I can template you know in my hospital at my trauma cad location there. So it's an enterprise license and then um basically within you know, as soon as I save that report, it's downloadable to my um, the software tower. I've done that right before a case. Um The alternative is if that internet cable is not functioning or in one of our surgery centers, we don't have a connection there. We take a USB. Um save that USB that file to a USB as your output instead of packs, and then you can plug that into your kickstand or Corey and then um that will pull off the necessary files.
